From Broken to Booked: A Website Overhaul for a Hormone Clinic

Project Overview

Hormone Clinic by WellnessMD needed a website that better reflected its professionalism and credibility. The previous site felt outdated, slow, and disorganized, leading to low conversion rates. The primary goal of this revamp was to increase phone calls and online bookings by delivering a modern, user-friendly experience that conveyed trust and expertise.

Mixline Media partnered with me to overhaul the site, bringing in my expertise in no-code/low-code development, UI/UX design, and performance optimization to transform the experience for potential patients.

My Role

I was brought in by Mixline Media to lead the website redesign and development process. My role covered multiple responsibilities:

  • No-code/low-code developer (WordPress + Elementor)
  • UI/UX designer (Figma)
  • Front-end developer (custom code and theme customization)
  • SEO setup and technical optimization
  • Light content editing and refinement

I also managed the hosting migration and introduced a Digital Care Plan (DCP), which includes high-performance hosting, plugin management, and ongoing maintenance.

The Challenge

Before the redesign, the site faced multiple issues that were hurting user experience and conversions:

  • Slow load times due to shared hosting, bloated plugins, and large media files
  • Poor UI/UX design with misaligned elements, inconsistent spacing, and clashing typography
  • Weak CTAs that made it hard for users to know what action to take
  • Lack of mobile optimization, making it difficult to navigate on smartphones and tablets
  • Inconsistent branding in colors, fonts, and imagery
  • Disorganized content structure with no clear visual hierarchy or content flow
  • Limited SEO optimization and no blog to support content strategy
  • Unpolished copy with spelling and grammar issues

The Solution

To resolve these issues, I led a full overhaul of the website's design, structure, and performance:

Performance & Speed

  • Migrated to premium WordPress hosting and added a Digital Care Plan
  • Removed unnecessary plugins and simplified the tech stack
  • Compressed and optimized media files and minified site code

UI/UX Design

  • Designed and developed a clean, modern layout with consistent spacing and alignment
  • Used Google Fonts for better performance and scalability
  • Selected a cohesive set of brand visuals and curated imagery

CTAs & Navigation

  • Added a floating "Call Now" button across all devices
  • Created consistent call-to-action buttons for calling or booking appointments
  • Strategically placed CTAs across all core pages to guide users

Mobile Optimization

  • Designed responsive breakpoints in Figma and tested across devices
  • Adjusted font sizes, button placement, and media layout for mobile

Content & SEO

  • Structured content using a clear heading hierarchy and HTML tags
  • Linked related pages and added a blog with archive and single post templates
  • Installed Yoast SEO plugin and optimized page metadata
  • Added a blog post slider and embedded testimonials on core pages

Copywriting

  • Proofread existing content and fixed grammar and spelling issues
  • Refined key messaging to align with the clinic’s goals

The Outcome

The new website launched recently, and we saw an immediate performance lift. According to GTmetrix, the site scored an A with 99% performance, 98% structure, a Largest Contentful Paint of 742ms, Total Blocking Time of 47ms, and a Cumulative Layout Shift of 0.

These improvements are already resulting in better usability and engagement. Over the coming months, we will track:

  • Increase in phone calls and online bookings
  • Continued SEO gains and traffic growth
  • Reduced bounce rates and higher conversion rates

Client feedback is forthcoming and will be added as it becomes available. Meanwhile, I’ve prepared a set of before-and-after mockups and mobile vs. desktop comparisons to showcase the transformation visually.
